Man Robs Cooper City Smoothie King at Knifepoint: BSO

Broward Sheriff's Deputies are looking for a man who was caught on surveillance camera robbing a Smoothie King in Cooper City with a knife.

The man is seen on video on Friday, Dec. 11 entering the shop, located at 8783 Stirling Road, brandishing a knife and demanding that the employee open the cash drawer.

"The young girl who was responsible for opening the til looked completely horrified," BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said. "This is something, you know, out of a nightmare that somebody would approach you with a weapon."

Once opened, the man grabbed several hundred dollars then ran out the store.

The store manager said he was in the back room at the time of the crime but the robber was too fast.

"I was in the back, she was in the front. I was walking to the front and by the time I got here everything was pretty much over with," Nigel Coutain said.

The 18-year-old employee has quit her job since the incident.

"It doesn't happen normally but she's okay, she's doing great," Coutain said. "Spoke to the family, spoke to the mom. They were shaken up the first night, it was her first experience but she's doing great now."

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or who has more information is asked to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
