Man Sentenced for Striking, Killing Pedestrian With Vehicle

A man pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter Friday for the death of a pedestrian.

Prosecutors said Carlos Padron killed Hayward Johnson in 2013 at the intersection of Northwest 7th Avenue and 20th Street.

Johnson's family said he was walking to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting when Padron ran him over.

Padron will now go to prison for five years and be on probation for ten years after he gets out of prison.

He also can never be behind the wheel of a car; his driver license has been revoked for life.
