Husband Shoots Wife in Miami Alleyway: Police

Elderly suspect arrested after killing his wife in broad daylight

Police say a husband shot and killed his estranged wife after he dragged her into an alleyway in Miami early Thursday.

Witnesses told police they saw 80-year old Abel Palomino grab Barbara Clara Ramos by the neck and pull her into an alley near an apartment building in the area of Southwest 14th Ave. and 5th St. in Little Havana

Police say witnesses flagged down a nearby cop, who heard a gunshot as he responded to the area.

When the officer entered the alleyway, he found Palomino holding a gun and 81-year-old Ramos on the ground, police said.

Palomino dropped the gun and was quickly taken into custody and the injured elderly woman was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Ramos died Thursday afternoon.

Police said the couple had separated a few months ago but that Palomino wanted to get back together.
