Sleeping Man Injured After Multiple Shots Fired Into Home

A man was shot when upwards of of 20 bullets tore through a Northwest Miami-Dade home as he and his family slept overnight, police said.

Authorities and paramedics arrived at the Northwest 82nd Terrace and Northwest 2nd Court residence overnight to find multiple bullet holes piercing through walls and windows.  A man who had been sleeping inside was hit in the stomach, police said. The man, who was conscious and breathing as he was wheeled into an ambulance en route to the hospital, is expected to recover, authorities said.

Desileine Cetoute, who lives nearby, said the gunfire jolted him out of bed.

Police say bullets appeared to come from two guns including a high powered rifle, though they are not sure how many shooters were involved. It is unclear whether the shooters were on foot on in a car.

A man who lives on a nearby street said the neighborhood can't tolerate the violence.

"We need things to be changed," he said. "It cannot be like this.  How many people get killed for nothing?"
