A man was taken to a hospital after he was shot outside of a Deerfield Beach Dunkin’ Donuts, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
The incident happened Friday night at 1305 S. Military Trail. Deputies said 66-year-old Richard Adolphus was sitting outside of the restaurant with his ex-wife and two friends when Matthew Talley, 21, drove up to the store with his friends.

Talley began throwing rocks while waiting for a friend to pick up his paycheck, the BSO said. When a rock landed near Adolphus, he asked what Talley was doing and Talley "rushed over" to him, according to authorities.
Adolphus then allegedly shot Talley after being provoked, his ex-wife told the BSO.
Both the victim and the shooter, who complained of chest pains, were transported to Broward Health North with non-life threatening injuries, according to Veda Coleman-Wright with the BSO.
Authorities believe the shooter and the victim were strangers.
