Man Stabbed at Billiards Hall Near FIU Campus

A man was hospitalized after he was stabbed at a billiards hall near Florida International University in Miami-Dade early Thursday.

Miami-Dade Police said the man was stabbed in the abdomen at New Wave Billiards and Sports Bar at 1403 Southwest 107th Avenue around 2:40 a.m.

The victim was taken to Kendall Regional Hospital in stable condition. His name wasn't released, and no other information was given.

The stabbing comes less than two weeks after a man was reportedly shot outside the same billiards hall, around 1 a.m. on May 18. No other information has been released on that shooting.

Alfredo Pineras, the manager of New Wave, said he went through surveillance footage and didn't see any signs of a fight inside his business.

"It affects us a lot, and our reputation, since we're the biggest here," he said.

Officials said both the stabbing and the shooting remain unsolved. Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
