Man Tried to Lure Kids Into Car in Homestead: Police

Sketch shows suspect who police say approached three kids as they walked to school

Police are looking for a man who tried to lure three kids into his car as they walked to school in Homestead.

The three siblings were walking to Gateway Environmental K-8 the morning of Sept. 13 when they were approached by a man driving a gray Nissan Altima, Homestead Police said.

The man asked the children, the eldest of which is nine, if they needed a ride and told them to get into his car, police said. The kids refused and the man drove off but kept circling multiple times and was watching the children, police said.

At one point the man got out of his car but got back in and drove off. The kids were able to make it to school where they told employees what had happened.

Police released a composite sketch of the suspect, who they described as a heavyset white Latin male who was bald with short black hair on the sides and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Homestead Police at 305-247-1535.
