Man Turns Himself in for Road Rage Shooting

A Doral Walmart was the scene of a bizarre road rage story on Friday

The mystery around the shooting in a Doral Walmart parking lot last week has been solved, but that's when things get really weird.

Police say Jorge Luis Perez turned himself in over the weekend and admitted he was the shooter who fled the scene in the road rage incident on Friday. The victim, Javier Suarez, was shot in the stomach and is still in Jackson Memorial Hospital healing from his run in with Perez.

But Perez said he was the victim that night.

According to the the gun-toting Walmart shopper, Suarez backed his car into Perez's vehicle as they both were trying to leave the parking lot. When the two men exited their cars for a confrontation, Perez claims Suarez came at him with a tire iron.

Fearing for his life, Perez ran back to his car, picked up his empty 9 MM pistol, loaded it, and then took aim at his attacker, who must have been moving in slow motion at this point or checking his Walmart receipt to see how much money he had saved.

That's when Perez fired one shot and then hopped in his yellow Chevy Avalanche, fleeing the scene. Perez claims the shooting was in self-defense and he drove away because he was scared.

The story appears to be at least partially true because Suarez admitted to police he did arm himself with a weapon during the altercation.

Perez was not arrested after going to the police station with his attorney over the weekend. He does own a valid permit to have the gun in his car as long as it's unloaded and the bullets are in a different location.

No one has been charged in the incident and police are still investigating.
