Man Who Abducted Girl, 10, From Miami-Dade Bus Stop Arrested: Police

Curtis Lee Lawson, 35, was arrested Thursday on kidnapping and lewd and lascivious assault charges

Police have arrested a man who they say abducted a 10-year-old girl from a northwest Miami-Dade bus stop before dropping her off at school earlier this month.

Curtis Lee Lawson, 35, was arrested Thursday on kidnapping and lewd and lascivious assault charges, Miami-Dade Police officials said.

The girl was sitting at the bus stop at Northwest 100th Street and Northwest 22nd Avenue the morning of Feb. 12 when the suspect asked her if she wanted a ride to school, police said.

The girl agreed and got into the car, and she was driven to a gas station at 1601 Northwest 119th Street, where the man made an inappropriate sexual request, police said. She refused and demanded to be dropped off at school, and the man took her to school unharmed.

Lawson was being held without bond Tuesday, jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
