Police are investigating after a man with a gunshot wound walked into a South Miami post office Monday morning.
South Miami Police spokesman Maj. Rene Landa said the man entered the post office at 5927 Southwest 70th Street with a gunshot wound in his shoulder. Police later identified him as Nicholas Carr, 20.
According to Landa, the victim was walking his girlfriend to a nearby MetroRail station when he got into a verbal altercation with a man on a bicycle.

"He dropped his girlfriend off at the Metrorail. Upon walking back, right behind us on 69th Street, where the yellow tape was at, he confronts the guy back again on the bicycle, they have some altercation and the guy pulls out a gun and he shoots him," Landa said.
Carr staggered into the post office where employees called 911. He was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Carr was arrested on Nov. 5, 2012 on a misdemeanor battery charge, but no action was taken on the case, according to online Miami-Dade court records.
Landa said he was being uncooperative in the investigation and provided no description of the suspect other than he was a black male.
The two probably know each other, Landa said.
“He doesn’t want to tell who the person is, whether he’s going to get his own revenge later or not, but the bottom line is it seems to me they know each other," he said.
