Missing Girl Found After Shooting in Miami Gardens

The Miami Gardens Police Department on Saturday said a missing 15-year-old girl considered at large after a shooting that injured three has been located.

"Juvenile has been recovered," MGPD wrote on Twitter.

Thanks to a tip, police were able to find the girl they were looking for. She was found outside of a Walgreens on Northwest 27th Ave. in Miami Gardens. A suspect in a shooting in Miami Gardens was arrested Friday.

"The family members of the 15-year-old girl came to this area looking for her. Somehow, they received a tip or something that alerted them to this area," said Officer Carlos Austin of the Miami Gardens Police Department.

The shooting happened around 9 a.m. in the area of Bunche Park Drive and 23rd Avenue.

Miami Gardens Police officials said a man and two women were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police took 21-year-old William Brice into custody in the Bunche Park neighborhood Friday night after urging the public to help identify a photo of a male who was considered armed and dangerous.

Hours after the shooting, Brice's own mother made him turn himself in to authorities.

"A family member actually saw him on the TV, on social media and a lot of people called in tips," said Austin.

Johnson, the missing girl, was believed to be with the shooting suspect.

According to police, the three people who were shot are Johnson's mom, uncle, and aunt, who had gone to a home looking for the teen when they were shot.

Dive team members from the Miami-Dade Police Department searched a canal where Brice told investigators he threw his gun after the shooting. After hours in the water, dive teams were unable to find it.

Police continue to investigate Brice's involvement with Johnson. One of the things they want to figure out is if he was having a relationship with the teen.

DCF has opened a child protective investigation due to this incident.
