Truck Thief Leads Cops on Dangerous Chase Through Miami

Cops taser suspect after car spins out of control

A man led police on a dramatic high-speed chase this morning through the streets of Hialeah, forcing cops to taser him when he the stolen truck he was driving fishtailed and he tried to ram a police car.

The chase started in North Miami on 35th Ave. around 7 a.m. this morning, ending nearly 20 minutes later on 124th Ave. near Okeechobee Rd. in Hialeah Gardens.

The dangerous chase saw the truck weaving in and out of traffic, driving in the center turning lane and driving on the wrong side of the road several times. It burst right through red lights at busy intersections, narrowly missing oncoming and cross traffic.

The truck, a white pickup with welding equipment in the back, belongs to the Setti and Sons Welding Corp. Some of the equiptment was seen falling off the back of the truck during the chase.

The chase ended when the driver, identified by police as 53-year-old Mario Llerena, tried to make a left turn on a dirt-covered road, and the truck spun out of control. Llerena rammed a police car head-on, but Miami-Dade officers quickly surrounded the truck, tasered him and yanked him out and arrested him.
