Marijuana Worth $300,000 Found at SW Miami-Dade Grow House: Police

The bust happened at 9745 SW 144th St.

One man was arrested Tuesday as police busted a southwest Miami-Dade grow house containing 75 “high-potency marijuana” plants with an estimated street value of $300,000, police said.

A police dog took down the man as they apprehended him Tuesday morning, and his leg had to be bandaged. He sat beside a car at the house at 9745 SW 144th St. all day long as officers worked the scene, before he was taken to the Miami-Dade Police Department for questioning, said police, who did not release his name.

They said the second suspect escaped and has not been found.

The bust came in The Falls area of Miami-Dade, in a tidy middle-class neighborhood.

Neighbors said that tenants come and go at what is known as the “rental house,” and that the latest occupants moved in between four and five months ago.

The 54-year-old, 3200-square-foot house has a market value of $332,000 and is owned by Tesoro Investments Inc. in The Woodlands, Texas, according to Miami-Dade property records. That company could not be reached for comment Tuesday.

One neighbor was shocked that there would be something like that in her neighborhood. But college kids said they were not shocked at all, and said there was another pot house a few blocks away a couple of years ago.
