Marlins Back At .500 After Rout of Snakes

Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run home run in Miami's 10-3 win over Arizona on Sunday

The Miami Marlins completed a series victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 10-3 win on Sunday.

Miami ended up taking three of four from Arizona and are now back at .500 on the season with a 62-62 record. The win helped keep Miami in both the division and Wild Card races.

Giancarlo Stanton had a big day that included a three-run home run in the first inning. Stanton also singled as part of a game where he brought home four runs. The home run was Stanton's 32nd of the year. The slugger improved his run batted in total to 88 which is a new career high.

Garrett Jones also hit a home run in the first inning, it was his 13th blast of the year and gave the Marlins a quick 4-0 lead.

Not to be outdone, Christian Yelich had three hits including a pair of doubles and an RBI.  The left-fielder now has 20 doubles on the year.

Tom Koehler had a long first inning but settled in nicely until the sixth inning. In the first, Koehler loaded the bases but worked out of it with a pair of strikeouts. At the end of the day, the right-hander completed six frames and allowed two runs on six hits.

Both of the runs came home in the sixth inning which has plagued Koehler throughout the entire season. It was still a quality start for Koehler who also struck out seven batters along the way. The win improves the right-hander to 9-9 on the year.

Miami is off on Monday before opening an interleague series with the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. The scheduled starter is Jarred Cosart.
