The Miami Marlins blew a three-run lead as the Chicago Cubs completed a sweep with a 5-4 win on Wednesday.

Chicago scored a run off Fernando Rodney in the eighth inning and then added another three runs in the ninth. The runs in the final inning came off of closer A.J. Ramos. Chicago's winning run crossed the plate on a wild pitch with the bases loaded.

Jeff Mathis launched a two-run home run to give Miami the lead in the seventh inning. The blast was a go-ahead home run when the gave was tied at one. It appeared the home run would go down as a game winner until the bullpen meltdown.

Christian Yelich had a solid day of his own with a double and a home run. Yelich's two-base hit was his 29th of the season, while the home run was his 11th of the year.

Dee Gordon got his bat going in the loss with a pair of hits. Miami's second baseman has been struggling since returning from a suspension, but scored a run to help Miami early on. Gordon is now batting .276 on the season while sitting atop Miami's lineup.

Tom Koehler was brilliant with six strong innings. The right-hander allowed a run on five hits and struck out seven. The outing was even more impressive as it came against a team that currently has the best record in all of Major League Baseball.

The Marlins will take Thursday off to travel onto their next city. David Phelps will make his first start of the season on Friday when Miami opens a series in Colorado.
