Marlins Finish Home Schedule With 5th Straight Win

The Marlins wrapped up the home part of their 2015 schedule with their fifth straight win

The Miami Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves 9-5 on Sunday in their final home game of the 2015 season.

The win was Miami's fifth in a row and also helped the team finish the year with a winning record at home. The Marlins ended up 41-40 at Marlins Park, which is a remarkable feat considering their overall record. Since August 31st, the Marlins have the best record in all of baseball, and have clinched third place in the division.

Justin Bour continued his destruction of baseballs with two long home runs. Bour went deep to right field off the foul pole, and then later hit one out to left field. The slugger now has 23 home runs this year to go along with 71 runs batted in. If Bour's numbers are projected for a full season of play, he would eclipse 30 HR and 100 RBI.

The multi-homer game for Bour was the first of his career. Since beginning the season as a pinch-hitter, Bour has opened eyes with his everyday play at first base. Bour slumped at one point, but has found all new success recently. Due to his production, it is likely that Bour will open the 2016 season as Miami's everyday 1B.

Marcell Ozuna went back-to-back with Bour's second blast of the day. The center fielder now has ten home runs on the season, and has been an all new player since returning from AAA. Ozuna may be moved this off-season as Miami could look to improve its starting rotation via trades.

Tom Koehler was not as his best, but was good enough to pick up the win. The right-hander walked five, surrendered nine hits and gave up four runs in 6.2 innings. Koehler will make one more start this year and has an 11-14 record.

The Marlins are off on Monday before opening a series in Tampa Bay against the Rays. Adam Conley is slated to start the opener for Miami.
