Mia Lounge Shooting Suspect Nabbed

Gunman who cops say traded shots with guard arrested in Panama

The suspect who cops say was involved in an early morning shooting outside a club set to host a star-studded Super Bowl pre-party has been captured, authorities said.

Pablo Guzman, 34, was nabbed by ICE agents at the airport in Panama City, Panama, last week after he stepped off a plane from Cancun, Mexico, according to Miami Police.

Guzman was wanted for the shooting of Nelson Puente outside Mia at Biscayne Lounge on Feb. 4.

According to police, Guzman and Puente began arguing in the club around 4:30 a.m., and the fight spilled out onto the street. That's when Guzman allegedly opened fire, hitting Puente several times.

An off-duty Miami Police officer who was working security at Mia saw the incident and opened fire on Guzman, who fled the scene.

Puente was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, but survived.

Guzman was transported to the U.S. on Feb. 12, where he was arrested for attempted murder.

Mia Lounge, at 20 Biscayne Blvd., was the site of a party later the same night as the shooting hosted by Diddy and Trey Songz.
