Miami Archbishop Allows Meat on St. Patrick's Day

Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski is allowing Catholics a special dispensation to eat meat on St. Patrick's Day Friday.

While Fridays in Lent are usually days for fasting and abstinence, Wenski said he's allowing those celebrating the holiday to cut loose, as long as they make up for it later.

"Those celebrating St. Patrick are encouraged to substitute another day in place of March 17th to observe this hallowed custom of fasting and abstinence during the Lenten Season," Wenski said in a letter.
