Video showing a man allegedly beating his nine-year-old niece and then forcing the girl into a dumpster in Miami Beach was released Thursday.
The surveillance video allegedly shows Jesus Crys hitting the girl in the head before she's forced to climb into the dumpster.
Crys, 30, appeared in court Thursday where he was ordered held without bond. He will remain in jail as the details of the case play out in court.
Crys faces a number of charges, including kidnapping, child abuse, and resisting arrest.
According to police, Crys got into an argument with the child inside his apartment at 645 8th Street in Miami Beach on Wednesday. He took the girl outside and beat her, then forced the girl to get inside a dumpster filled with trash and shards of broken glass.
Crys is the girl's legal guardian. She is now in the custody of the state.
The suspect has 13 previous charges on his record, including burglary, possession of cocaine, and resisting arrest.
A public defender has been appointed to represent Crys.
