Suspect in Miami Beach Hotel Sex Assault Arrested

What to Know

  • According to the victim, she had met her alleged attacker a few days before they agreed to meet at the hotel that morning.

The Miami Beach Police Department on Saturday said the suspect in an alleged sexual assault within a hotel room has been arrested.

The suspect is being interviewed at the Miami Beach Police Department headquarters.

The case began when Officers responded to Mount Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon after the female victim said she was assaulted earlier in the day inside her room at the Century Hotel located off Ocean Drive.

According to the victim, she had met her alleged attacker a few days before they agreed to meet at the hotel that morning. The two had agreed to have sex, but the victim said she changed her mind when she saw he didn’t have a condom.

The man got angry, according to the victim, and began to choke her and hold down her arms before sexually assaulting her. After the alleged incident, the man reportedly pulled out a gun before the two fought again.

Eventually, a hotel employee came to the room as the man was leaving just after 1 p.m. before the victim went to the hospital.

In an emailed statement to NBC 6, the Century Hotel said the staff "expressed their interest in staying private" and all details of the investigation were given to MBPD.
