Miami-Dade County Employee Shot and Killed in Opa-locka Suspect Arrested

A man has been arrested after a Miami-Dade County employee and a well-known member of the community was shot and killed in Opa-locka early Saturday, officials said.

Freddie James London Jr. was shot in front of the Power Supermarket at 14566 Northwest 22nd Avenue around 5:30 a.m., Miami-Dade Police said.

Turane Mark Rouse Jr., 25, was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting. It was unknown if he's hired an attorney.

Police said robbery was the motive.

Family members said the 36-year-old London also served as a pastor at his local church. His Facebook profile said he studied business administration at Miami Dade College.

City of Opa-locka spokesman David Chiverton said London was well known in the city.

"He was a legend in the City of Opa-locka, well known in the community," Chiverton said.
