A husband killed his wife and attempted to kill himself at their home in Northwest Miami-Dade Saturday night, according to police.
Officers say they responded to a shooting at the home when two men approached them and informed of two children that remained inside.
Special Response Team members rescued the children through a window and confirmed a woman was shot inside.
When units entered, they found the woman, and a man who was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced the woman dead on scene and transported the man to a local trauma center.
Police have confirmed to NBC 6 that the two children were the couple's grandchildren.
They have been reunited with family members, according to police.
