Miami-Dade Man Set Nephew on Fire, Attacked Him With Brick: Police

A Miami-Dade man who set his nephew on fire during a confrontation at a Richmond Heights home has been arrested on an attempted murder charge, police said.

Keith Wallace, 63, was arrested Tuesday on the attempted second-degree murder charge following the incident at a home in the 14300 block of Boggs Drive, Miami-Dade Police said.

Wallace's nephew, Emery Wallace, was at the home visiting his grandmother, Salome Wallace, who was found after she was reported missing from her home on Monday.

Keith Wallace became enraged at the nephew and said "he got to go" before he doused the nephew with a flammable liquid and used a lighter to set him on fire, an arrest report said.

While the nephew was trying to put the flames out, Keith Wallace grabbed a knife and brick and hit his nephew with the brick, the report said. Witnesses said Keith Wallace continued to threaten his nephew, telling him he was going to kill him, the report said.

Emery Wallace was taken to Kendall Regional Hospital in critical condition with 2nd-degree burns to 20 percent of his body, police said.

Keith Wallace was taken into custody and later booked into jail, where he remained on $100,000 bond Wednesday. Attorney information wasn't available.
