An early morning chase involving Miami-Dade Police ended with a crash in the Brownsville neighborhood and an arrest being made.

Police say the incident started just before 3 a.m. Thursday when an officer noticed a silver Mercedes parked in a gas station parking lot near Northwest 47th Street and 27th Avenue. The Mercedes matched the description of a car that had previously fled from officers.

As officers tried to speak to the driver, later identified as 39-year-old Alberto Montejo, he jumped in the car and drove away.

Officials say Montejo rammed a MDPD cruiser and drove a short distance before his car came to a stop after striking another vehicle near the intersection of Northwest 42nd Street and 29th Avenue.

Montejo was taken to Hialeah Hospital after complaining of pain while no one else was hurt.

Montejo is facing several counts, including fleeing and eluding, driving without a license and possession of marijuana.
