Man Killed in Shootout With Miami-Dade Police

Officers with the Miami-Dade Police Department were involved in a shooting on Tuesday.

It happened just after 7 p.m. at an apartment complex at 132nd Street and Northeast 7th Avenue, near North Miami Senior High.

Police said officers were involved in an investigation when they confronted a suspect. They said the suspect fired at officers with a high-powered rifle and they fired back.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Marvin Arroliga, was killed in the shooting. No officers were injured.

MDPD said the investigation involved a prior shooting, and when they arrived at the apartment complex, the suspect they were looking for began firing at them.

Arroliga's brother, 24-year-old Howard Morraz, was also at the scene and police are trying to find him, officials said.
