Miami Dolphins Trade Ryan Tannehill to Tennessee Titans

Tannehill, 30, was drafted by the Dolphins in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft

The Miami Dolphins have traded quarterback Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans, a league source confirmed to NBC 6 on Friday.

The Dolphins are sending Tannehill and a 2019 6th round draft pick to Tennessee for a 4th round pick in 2020 and a 7th round pick in 2019.

Tannehill, 30, was drafted by the Dolphins in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft with the 8th overall pick.

In six seasons with the Dolphins, Tannehill threw 123 touchdowns. He sat out the entire 2017 season after suffering a torn ACL.

Tannehill's departure from Miami had been expected. He became the Dolphins' starting quarterback as a rookie in 2012 and has still never taken a postseason snap.

His contract was to balloon to $18.7 million in base salary this year, and he would have counted $26.6 million against the salary cap. His agent tweeted that as part of the trade, Tannehill signed a one-year deal with the Titans.

Tannehill is expected to replace Blaine Gabbert as the backup to Tennessee's Marcus Mariota.
