Miami Dolphins Training Camp Breakdown – August 13th

What to Know

  • The Dolphins will break training camp on Tuesday before heading to Charlotte for their second preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

The end is almost near for the Miami Dolphins as they hit the field in Davie for their next to last day of Training Camp 2018 – and it was a day that featured quite a bit of feistiness.

The players will tell you they are always brining the intensity at practice, but today the defense really put the intensity on display. In particular toward the end of practice as TJ McDonald and Davon Godchaux put a hit on running back Kenyan Drake, who was stuffed on a run up the middle.

Defensive Coordinator Matt Burke didn’t seemed pleased with the overall effort today, as dust ups broke out on two different plays. Offensive lineman Ted Larsen got in to it with Godchaux, who said it’s just part of camp, but it’s nothing serious. On the second scuffle, running back Senorise Perry took what could’ve been construed as a cheap shot from defensive tackle Gabe Wright. Players from both the offense and defense had to be separated afterwards.

In talking with offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, he said he is pleased with the chemistry being built on the offensive line. While at times it didn’t appear the offensive line had some struggles in last Thursday night’s preseason opener, Loggains said he thinks overall both the first and second units have done a good job on their blocking schemes.

Injuries at this point appear minimal but starting wide receivers Kenny Stills (ankle) and Devante Parker (hand) sat out practice. For Stills, it’s a second straight day of practice missed for what head coach Adam Gase yesterday called precautionary reasons. Parker reportedly jammed a finger in yesterday’s session and was held out today.
