Miami Firefighters Rescue Woman Stuck in Tree at Bayside Marketplace

The woman accidentally climbed too high and became disoriented.

Firefighters rescued a 23-year-old woman who got stuck in a tree Sunday at Bayside Marketplace in downtown Miami.

Fire rescue officials said the woman and her boyfriend, also in his 20s, casually climbed up the enormous banyan tree near the front entrance of Bayside. They didn't realize how high they had climbed, and the woman soon became disoriented. The woman was unable to climb down and Bayside staff called 911.

When fire rescue arrived, they found the woman clinging to the tree and her boyfriend trying to keep her calm. Officials said the woman was drifting in and out of consciousness.

The fire department's Technical Rescue Team and Hazardous Materials Team helped rescue the woman by using ropes and a body harness.

The unidentified woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Officials said she was not seriously injured.
