A Miami Gardens officer went above and beyond his call of duty when a boy's bike was suddenly stolen outside of a retail store.
The boy left his bike outside of the store to buy some last minute school supplies, the Miami Gardens Police Department said in a Facebook post. When he returned minutes later, the bike was gone.
"Ofc. Tamayo was so moved after seeing him so upset that he dug into his own pockets and bought the young man a brand new bicycle," the post read.
Turns out, the bike was the boy's only mode of transportation. He needed it to travel to and from school.
Thanks to Officer Tamayo's act of kindness, the boy now wants to be a police officer and help others when he grows up, the department said.
