Miami Heat Moving Charity Event Out of Trump's Doral Golf Course

The Miami Heat will move its annual charity golf tournament out from Donald Trump's Doral golf resort to another course for 2018, a team spokesman said.

The Washington Post first reported the shift away from Trump National Doral Miami, citing the spokesman who declined to be quoted by name.

"We're not getting into it," the spokesman said when asked by the Post to give a reason for the change.

The Miami Heat's Heat SCramble or Heat Golf Classic events have been held every year since 2014. The team also held the event prior previously – before Trump bought the course out of bankruptcy in 2012.

In 2018, the Heat will host the event at Pinecrest's Deering Bay Golf Course.

“I’m supportive of the decision and I’m supportive of this organization,” captain Udonis Haslem told the Miami Herald on Tuesday. “Since I’ve been here they’ve always done things the right way and made sure they were fair and conscious of everybody.”
