Miami Man Who is Registered Sex Offender Accused of Exposing Himself to Girl, 9

A Miami man who is a registered sex offender and was out on bond for failing to register his new address was arrested for allegedly exposing himself to a 9-year-old girl.

Joseph Thermidieu, 35, was arrested Sunday for attempted lewd and lascivious assault on a child and burglary with assault or battery, according to an arrest affidavit.

The affidavit said Thermidieu entered a home without permission and pulled down his pants in front of the girl, who ran out of the house. Thermidieu followed her outside and said he would give her money if she promised not to say anything, the affidavit said.

Thermidieu appeared in bond court Monday, where he was ordered held on $275,000. He'll be on house arrest if he posts bond.

Thermidieu is a registered sex offender and has an open case for failing to register his new address. He had gone to prison for a similar incident, after he was sentenced to nearly 50 months in prison in 2009.

Prosecutors said he was probably not supposed to be living so close to children given his past offenses.

"It’s the state’s position that this defendant is an extreme danger to the community," prosecutor Nessa Eth said during Thermidieu's court appearance.
