Miami Near Bottom for Veterans: Study

If United States veterans are looking for a city to call home, they may want to look somewhere other than the Magic City, according to a new study from the financial analysis website WalletHub.

According to WalletHub, Miami is the fifth worst city for veterans to live in nationwide. Miami beat out San Bernardino, California; Memphis, Tennessee; Chicago, Illinois; and Newark, New Jersey in the WalletHub Rankings for best places for veterans to live.

WalletHub found Miami has one of the lowest veteran populations in the country, ahead of just Santa Ana, California and Hialeah. Miami also ranked near the bottom when it comes to lowest percentage of military skill-related jobs, ranking 98th out of 100.

On the other end of the spectrum, the top five cities for veterans to live in, according to WalletHub, are: Lincoln, Nebraska; Gilbert, Arizona; Irvine, California; Madison, Wisconsin; and Boise, Idaho.

The news wasn’t all bad for South Florida. The city with the lowest veteran unemployment rate in the country was Hialeah, Florida, according to WalletHub’s study.
