Miami Police Chief's Free Marc Anthony Concert Tickets a Violation: Ethics Panel

The Miami police chief has settled an ethics complaint after he accepted free tickets to a Marc Anthony concert last fall.

The Miami-Dade County ethics panel said in a news release Wednesday that Chief Rodolfo Llanes thought he didn't have to report the four tickets because they had a zero face value printed on them. But the panel concluded Llanes should have known it would have cost anyone else between $256 and $820 for the four seats.

The panel said the chief and Anthony became friends after the singer donated $25,000 to the Police Athletic League and spoke at a PAL dinner.

Llanes has now reported the tickets as a gift and the complaint was dismissed. The ethics panel is issuing him a letter of instruction about matter.
