Lockdown Lifted at Miami School After Possible Shots Fired in Nearby Park

A projectile was fired through a window of an empty classroom, prompting the lockdown of a southwest Miami-Dade school Friday morning, officials said.

There were reports of shots fired at Kendall Indian Hammocks Park near Ruth Owens Kruse Education Center at 11001 Southwest 76th Street in Kendall.

Miami-Dade Public School officials said the school was placed on lockdown but no one was injured at the school. The lockdown was later lifted.

Miami-Dade Police responded to the school. Officials said a school board officer heard shots fired but they were still trying to determine whether shots were fired.
