Miami Shores Armed Home Invasion Suspect Arrested in North Dakota

A suspect in an armed home invasion robbery and kidnapping in Miami Shores was arrested in North Dakota, police said Friday.

Marcel Ashely, 28, was arrested by the U.S. Marshal's Service and was in custody in the Ward County jail, Miami Shores Police officials said.

Police say Ashely was behind the Nov. 28 incident at a home in the 600 block of Grand Concourse where a man was approached as he was working out in his garage.

Ashely, who was armed with a handgun, forced the victim to take him to a bank to withdraw money, police said. He then took the victim's Lexus and fled the area, police said.

The Lexus was later found unoccupied. Police haven't said how Ashely made it all the way to North Dakota.

Ashely is expected to be extradited back to Miami-Dade to face charges.
