Missing Dog and Pig Found, Returned to Miami Police Officer

What to Know

  • A City of Miami police officer's pet dog and pig were last seen Saturday around NW 30th Avenue and NW 5th Street in Little Havana

A city of Miami police officer is thanking a neighbor after his beloved pets - a pig named Lola and a puppy named Shadow - were found following his televised plea.

Tommy Reyes told NBC 6's Amanda Placensia that the animals were discovered by a neighbor who took them to their home, but didn't know who they belonged to.

After seeing the story Monday night, that neighbor contacted the officer and a return was scheduled.

"We've been really worried," Reyes said Monday. "I've definitely lost sleep over it."

Reyes says the lawn worker left the gate to his yard ajar and Shadow (the dog) and Lola (the pig) escaped.

"With the bad weather on Saturday, I think maybe they got a little bit scared," he said.

Tommy had been handing out flyers nonstop since the pair went missing, last seen in the area of NW 30th Avenue and NW 5th Street in Little Havana.

Shadow, a street rescue, has been with Tommy's family since he was a puppy. And when Tommy first got Lola, she was so small he was able to "hold her like a hot dog."

Tommy says the canine and pig are a bit shy around new people if approached. But these pets mean the world to him as part of his furry family.
