Migrants Found Offshore of Elliott Key, Taken Into Custody by Coast Guard

At least 15 migrants were found by a U.S. Coast Guard crew in the waters off of Elliott Key Tuesday afternoon, prompting officials to stop their vessel and take the migrants onboard.

There were no early reports of any injuries and they were all taken into custody without incident. It’s unknown what nation they came from, though there has been an increase in migrants from Cuba attempting to make it to shore as part of the “wet foot, dry foot” policy.
