Missing Student's Body Washes Ashore

The University of South Florida student who went missing in Costa Rica has been found dead

Authorities have found the body of a recent graduate of the University of South Florida who disappeared this weekend while swimming in the Pacific Ocean.

Aly Lakdawala went missing Saturday while he was swimming with friends in Costa Rica. The university says the United States Embassy in Costa Rica confirmed that his body washed ashore Monday night near where he was swimming.

Lakdawala graduated from USF this May. He was participating in a community service trip in rural Costa Rica with other students.

University spokeswoman Lara Wade says Lakdawala's father was in Costa Rica. The majority of the students on the trip came home Monday night and many were in tears as they were greeted by parents and school officials.

Others are expected to return Tuesday evening.
