Missing Teen Believed to be Victim of Sex Trafficking Found

A missing 13-year-old girl, believed to be a victim of sex trafficking, has been found.

According to the teen's mother, she is doing well and is at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Cristal Figueroa, 13, has been missing since Wednesday evening.

On Wednesday, Figueroa asked for permission to attend a funeral at a funeral home in Hialeah. She went to the funeral home but never came back home. She didn't take any clothes with her, so she is not considered a runaway.

According to police, someone saw her in a black car with a male in his 30s giving her a ride after the funeral. Her family was able to trace the last phone calls she made on that day and she may have been in contact with an escort service.

Figueroa lives in Hollywood and attends Hollywood Academy

Sex trafficking is the second most common criminal activity behind the illegal drug trade. Florida has been identified as a hub for human trafficking activity. It has one of the highest incidences of human trafficking in the country.
