Model Arrested in Fatal Hit-And-Run of UM Student

Valentina Hubsch charged with leaving the scene of a crash that killed Jared Paul Jones

A local model and actress has been arrested and officially charged in the hit-and-ruin death of a University of Miami student.

Valentina Hubsch, 45, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death after she allegedly hit Jared Paul Jones near the UM campus on Nov. 13.

After police and the UM community pleaded with the driver to come forward, Hubsch gave a statement to police on Nov. 24. Police took DNA samples from Hubsch's car and decided to formally press charges today.

Jones, a 21-year-old student from Maryland, died on Nov. 23. after being in a coma for 10 days.

Jones was allegedly hit by a car driven by Hubsch, who was headed northbound on Red Road as he was walking in the street near the intersection of Red Road and Blue Road around 7:20 p.m.

Hubsch was in court Tuesday and a judge set her bond at $10,000.
