A South Florida woman is facing charges in the high-speed crash in Margate that killed her 5-year-old son last month, authorities said.

Imani Fatimah Malik, 25, was arrested last week on charges of vehicular homicide and reckless driving in the Aug. 26 crash, Margate Police said Monday.

Police said Malik was behind the wheel of a 2017 Nissan Sentra that was speeding on Royal Palm Boulevard when she lost control and crashed into a tree.

Her 5-year-old son was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Malik was hospitalized after the crash.

Investigators said Malik was driving more than 90 mph, and her son wasn't secured in a child safety seat.

Malik, of Oakland Park, was taken into custody after her release from the hospital and was being held without bond Monday, jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
