“More Than Just a Bird”: Aventura Family Offers Reward for Missing Parrot

Lastra said the bird has been raised since it was an egg. He was passed down from his father who passed away.

An Aventura family is asking for the public’s help in finding their pet parrot that has gone missing.

The 10-year-old blue and gold Macaw was last seen Saturday afternoon. The bird’s owner, Eric Lastra, said the bird is friendly and can be very loud.

It is believed that the parrot flew away after Lastra’s kids may have accidentally left the cage open.

Lastra said the bird has been raised since it was an egg. He was passed down from his father, who passed away.

“It’s more than just a bird. It’s a family member,” Lasta said.

A reward has been offered for anyone who finds the parrot. Lastra recommends not trying to pick up the bird because he can sometimes get scared and may try to defend himself around strangers.
