Mother of Boys Who Drowned in North Lauderdale Pool Arrested

The mother of the two boys who drowned in a North Lauderdale pool has been arrested.

Wildline Joseph, 23, was arrested by the Lauderhill Police Department at about 1 a.m. on Saturday, the Broward County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Joseph faces two counts of aggravated manslaughter of a child.

"Detectives said Joseph failed to provide proper care and supervision for the brothers, which made her responsible for their deaths," BSO wrote.

Joseph's arrest comes less than a week after 24-year-old John Lynn was also arrested, facing the same charges. An arrest warrant was issued for Joseph at the time.

On May 22, 6-year-old Ja'Kye Joseph and 5-year-old Branario Minto drowned in an apartment complex pool. The young brothers were pulled from the pool at the complex at 1200 Southwest 50th Avenue.

Joseph said the boys must have jumped the fence and got into the water.

Investigators said surveillance video showed the brothers unsupervised and running to the pool area around 7:16 p.m., but detectives said the 911 call was received at 9:33 p.m. and the brothers had been submerged underwater for almost two hours prior to being found.

"I'm so sorry, if I was there I could have saved them on time," Joseph said at the time.

Joseph and Lynn, both jailed in Broward County Sheriff's Office Main Jail, both face $250,000 bond.
