Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing Into Concrete Pole in Pompano Beach

A motorcyclist was killed after losing control and crashing into a concrete pole in Pompano Beach early Sunday morning.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said the crash happened around 6 a.m. on the 2200 block of West Copans Road. The impact sparked a fire that engulfed the Suzuki 1000 motorcycle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told detectives that the motorcyclist had been travelling at a high rate of speed just before the crash. No other vehicles were involved.

The accident is under investigation.
