Authorities are searching for a motorcycle rider who opened fire on a driver during a road rage incident in Miami-Dade earlier this month.

The victim was traveling on Old State Road 9 near the Golden Glades the evening of April 8 when he was involved in the encounter with the motorcyclist, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

Officials said the two got into a verbal argument, and the motorcyclist hit the driver's side mirror with his hand, cracking it. The victim followed the suspect to get his tag number but the temporary tag was rolled up.

At one point, the suspect got off his motorcycle and fired several rounds at the car, officials said. The motorcyclist then fled the scene, but the driver was able to record the biker.

NBC 6 spoke with the 27-year-old victim, who didn't want to be identified. He said he was on his way to pick up his fiance when the incident happened.

"He shot the tire and he shot the quarter-glass on the driver's side," the victim said on Thursday. "As I opened the door, when I finally got settled and to a tire shop, I saw a bullet casing on my door. And the officer said 'you know it ricocheted, if it didn't ricochet, it would have came straight for your head.'"

Authorities are now searching for the biker and are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
