Motorcyclists Ride to Key West For Charity

Money raised during the Key West Poker Run will go to the Diabetes Research Institute and other Key West-based charities

Thousands of motorcyclists from across the United States rode to Key West Saturday to raise money for the Diabetes Research Institute and other charities, the Florida Keys News Bureau announced.

Up to 10,000 bikers drove the 113 miles of the Florida Keys Overseas Highway to Duval Street, which was closed to car traffic to accommodate bike parking. The ride was part of the annual Key West Poker Run.

Along the way, the bikers drew cards at designated stops in hopes of obtaining good poker hands. The 10 participants with the best hands were eligible to play in a winner-take-all round of Texas Hold 'Em with a Harley Davidson motorcycle up for grabs, according to the bureau.
