An early morning crash involving three cars near Homestead claimed the life of one person and sent multiple others to the hospital while closing one roadway as officials investigated.

Rescue crews arrived at the scene along Southwest 112h Avenue between 268th Street and Florida’s Turnpike just before 6 a.m., where chopper footage showed the vehicles involved including one car on its roof and split in half.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said a total of five people were involved, with three being identified as trauma alerts including reports of one being a teenager. Another patient was also taken to an area hospital according to officials, but officials have not said if any of those were the fatality.
