3 Hurt as Multiple Shelves Collapse at Party City in Boca Raton

Three people suffered minor injuries after multiple shelves collapsed at a Party City in Boca Raton, Florida, Tuesday morning.

The incident happened at the store at 22191 Powerline Road, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue officials said.

Fire Rescue officials said seven aisles of shelves collapsed, injuring three people, WPTV reported.

Photos showed crews searching for possible victims under the shelves. A sheriff's office K-9 also assisted in the search.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue later tweeted that no victims were found in the debris.

"We heard this huge rumble, it was raining outside, we thought it was thunder but it went on for a really long time," one witness said.

It's unknown what caused the collapse.

"The safety of our customers and employees is our number one priority, and Party City is committed to providing a safe, happy environment," the company said in a statement. "The cause of this situation is under review as a similar incident has never occurred in our 800 store system. The Boca Raton location remains closed at this time."
