Another AA Employee Found Dead in South Florida Home

Police investigate MIA worker's shooting death

Police are investigating after an American Airlines employee was found dead in her Coral Gables home Friday.

Ruth Fuentes, an AA passenger services supervisor at Miami International Airport, was found after she hadn't showed up for work for two days, co-workers said.

According to police, when officers went to check on Fuentes' welfare, her home on the 1500 block of Certosa Ave. was secure.

But when they entered the home, they found Fuentes, 49, dead of a gunshot wound.

"We are deeply saddened by her death," said American Airlines spokesperson Martha Pantin. "Ruth Fuentes was an AA employee since 1986. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and colleagues."

The murder is the second of a South Florida-based American Airlines employee this month. Pilot Russell Christopher Walker, 50, was found dead inside his Pompano Beach home Jan. 14. The 50-year-old Walker hadn't been heard from in 10 days.

Miami-Dade Police are calling Fuentes' death a homicide, and are asking anyone with information on Fuentes' death to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
