Murder Suspect Shot and Killed by Police in Hollywood

Hollywood Police say one man is dead following a SWAT situation near South 57th Avenue and Mayo Street in Hollywood Wednesday morning.

Miranda Grossman, spokeswoman for the department, says Hollywood police officers arrived at the 5600 block of Flagler Street around 9 a.m. after Miami Police asked for help executing a search warrant for a murder suspect out of Miami.

Grossman says at some point during that process gunshots were fired and the suspect was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The warrant was for a person suspected in the murder of 27-year-old Netrievae White, who was killed on August 23rd near NW 16th Avenue and 42nd Street in Miami.

Court records show White was charged with sexual battery of a victim under the age of 12 and sentenced to life in prison back in 2013, but was released three years later, in 2016, after a legal technicality.
